Hyper light drifter youtube6/28/2023 ![]() Games today like dark souls, cuphead, and HLD seem to be deemed hard but most NES games are harder. and we were okay with that and wantes to see what the game had to offer. i hate to sound so old.but wjen we were kids we'd rent a game and know damn well that we might not be able to beat the first level of a game let along beat the whole game in a weekend. I'm not against easy modes on games but I do feel like people give up and don't get the satisfaction of getting good and overcoming the challenge. so then I did NG+ and I was like ok yeah this is more like it. my 2nd playthrough I knew what to expect and beat a couple bosses 1st or 2nd try and I felt like the game might even be kind of easy. it's more of knowing how to handle situations and being prepared than anything else, though, I think. and you are exactly right! i feel like i am "good" at retro action games and I will admit I died a lot my first playthrough. Not that those games are bad, just that I think the wrong type of gamer picks up a game like this (or Cuphead for example) and then when they keep losing (you are supposed to) and don't have story setpieces and quick time events and paid DLC to get better weapons and items and shit they decide the game is just unfair and everybody else is just trying to be hardcore or something. other games have their strengths and purpose, and if you don't like action games or think they're too hard there are plenty of "immersive" or story driven games out there that won't ask any skill or effort from you. ![]() ![]() it's really what action games really should be about. These people really don't get the reward of putting in practice and mastering a game and then feeling like a badass. I've seen people say you should be able to beat a level of a game first try with clear indicators and no surprises or the game is "unfair." I think problems with difficulty in any (well, I guess most) game is mainly due to people who think they shouldn't lose or die very often. If you are making use of the extra hit point even 50% of the time (a low estimate) then over the course of an entire playthrough that can jump to a very high number of extra hits when compared to normal difficulty.Įdit: and if im not mistaken easy has more health box locations also Now, that doesn’t sound like it makes that much difference especially because bosses and strong enemies deal 2 damage, but there are almost always 1 damage enemies mixed in with the 2 damage enemies, making it usable in many fights. It allows you to take 1 extra hit per health box from an enemy that deals 1 damage. Most people should be able to beat it, but if you seriously hate the difficulty for whatever reason then okay, you gave it a chance easy might be a better experience for that person.īut the one extra hp actually makes most of the game a lot easier. I don’t think that its necessarily bad that its an option, I just think that everyone should try the normal difficulty first.
